Knitting Straight Stitch: Knit and Purl

Knit and Purl – The Basic Knit Stitch Pattern

STRAIGHT STITCH
These two stitches are the basis of most knitted projects: KNIT AND PURL
This is tutorial for the basic purl and knit stitch.
The straight stitch is the “v” shape and the curly side is the purl (looks like a ‘turtle neck’).

Most of all the knitting patterns are a variation of these two stitches.

Pay close attention on the placement of the ‘incoming’ yarn->

To KNIT, you ALWAYS have your yarn in the back of the right needle.

To PURL you always have your yarn on the front of your right needle
